JEANERETTE — A Home going Celebration for Rosa Lee Carter Johnson-Clavelle, 86, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 629 Pellerin Street, Jeanerette.

Pastor Arthur L. Jones will officiate the service.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Church Cemetery.

Visitation will begin on Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the church until time of services

Rosa was born on Monday, July 6, 1931, in Chenneyville, to the union of the late Dave Carter Sr. and Isabelle Johnson Carter. In her early adult years, she met and married the late Sherman Clavelle Sr. and they were blessed with seven children. She was a faithful member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church until her health prevented her from service. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by four children Muriel “Marie” Alexander, Ernest Johnson, Sherman Clavelle Jr. and Claude Clavelle and five siblings Dave Carter Jr., Don Carter, Ollie Carter, Davie Lee Carter and Katherine Carter. Rosa peacefully transcended to eternal rest on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at her home following a lengthy illness. 

Mama Rose, as she was affectionately known, leaves to cherish precious memories with her three sons, Truman Clavelle of Marksville, Floyd Clavelle of Jeanerette and Stevie Clavelle of New Iberia; two sisters Daisy Voorhies and Susan Carter, both of Alexandria; 159 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
