Early estimate: Tornado leaves around 60 families displaced

The tornado has left around 60 families displaced from their homes because of the damage, according to an early estimate from New Iberia Police Chief Todd D’Albor.

That number is almost certain to change as authorities continue to survey damage.

New Iberia Mayor Freddie DeCourt said the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army are assisting families.

The tornado touched down around 11:10 a.m. today.
