CENTERVILLE — E.D. White took a 10-point lead in the first quarter and made it stand up for a 58-44 win over Centerville Saturday night in the Tournament of the Teche at CHS.

The Cardinals led 23-13 after one quarter. Each team scored 9 points in both the second and third quarters, and EDW held a 17-13 edge in the fourth quarter.

Kevin Johnson had 19 points to lead E.D. White. Rafe Blades had 14 and Eli Lasseigne added 11.

Jaylon Williams had 16 points including four 3-pointers for Centerville. Marquis Strawder added 13 points and Lance Howard had 11, going 6-for-7 at the foul line, for the Bulldogs.

Centerville plays at Grand Isle Tuesday.

Morgan City 84, Jeanerette 65

Morgan City pulled away in the second half to beat Jeanerette after JSH had stayed within 6 points through one half.

Kejean Francois led a balanced scoring attack for MCHS with 16 points. Makye Richard had 13, Jared Singleton 11, Traj Daniels 10 and Tywaun Walker, Deondre Grogan and Morrquie Charles had 9 each.

Tyrese Batiste led JSH with 22 points. Donata Polidore and Todric Paul had 9 each.

Jeanerette hosts Franklin Tuesday.

Girls

Teurlings Catholic 36, Hanson 33

A 12-4 third quarter lifted Teurlings to the win over Hanson Saturday.

HMS led 12-7 after one quarter and 21-16 at halftime.

Carlie Pellerin had 15 points for the Lady Tigers. Allyssa Young added 13 points. Baylee Young had a team-high seven rebounds and Sarah Daniel had six boards.

Hanson plays at Franklin Tuesday.

Boys

Centerville 62, Franklin 57

Centerville outscored Franklin 21-13 in the fourth quarter to stun the Hornets on Friday.

Jaylon Williams had 18 points, Lance Howard added 16 and Marquis Strawder had 13 for the Bulldogs, with Howard and Strawder each getting 7 in the fourth quarter.

Kevin Ina had a game-high 28 points for the Hornets, including two 3-pointers. Ina had 16 points in the second half. Braydon Ward and Ervin Collins had 8 apiece and Josh Parker added 7 points.

Franklin plays at Jeanerette Tuesday.

Houma Christian 50, Jeanerette 27

Houma Christian built a double-digit lead by halftime and pulled away in the fourth period by outscoring Jeanerette 14-2.

Tre Washington had 18 points for the Warriors. Manny Frye had 13, Trent Washington 10 and JeCorei Ward 9.

Donata Polidore led Jeanerette with 8 points and Tyrese Batiste added 6. Five other players scored for the Tigers.

E.D. White 62, Morgan City 53

E.D. White rallied from a 4-point deficit after one quarter to lead 30-26 at halftime, and pulled away with an 18-10 advantage in the fourth quarter.

Kevin Johnson had 23 points for the Cardinals. Rafe Blades and Eli Lasseigne scored 11 points apiece and Hayden Tortorich had 8.

Tarj Daniels paced MCHS with 17 points. Jared Singleton added 13 points and Morrqiue Charles and Makye Richard had 9 each.

Girls

Hanson 41, Berwick 17

Hanson jumped out to a 9-3 lead after one quarter and was ahead 19-8 at halftime. The Lady Tigers scored in double figures in three of four quarters and held Berwick to 6 or fewer points in each period.

Casey Fitzgerald had 11 points and three steals and Carlie Pellerin had 10 points and six assists for HMS. Sarah Daniel had 7 points and seven rebounds and Baylee Young had 7 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks.

Jordon Lipari led BHS with 5 points and Madison Carline had 4 for the Lady Panthers.
