Champagne wins another term as Rep.

Simone Champagne will be going to Baton Rouge for another four years to represent the people of state House District 49.
“I want to thank everyone for having confidence in me and for sending me back to Baton Rouge for another four years,” said the House of Representatives victor. Champagne received 3,329 votes for 64.10 percent of ballots cast. Larry Rader received 1,444 votes for 27.8 percent of the vote and John Bering received 420, or 8 percent of the votes.
“I’m very pleased with the turnout, especially with 30 percent of the district being new,” Champagne said.
Champagne said legislation for coastal protection is “paramount” and she will continue to work to bring and keep jobs in the area.
“Because of my friends, family and supporters I was able to win the election and I will continue to work for them in Baton Rouge,” Champagne said.
According to the Iberia Parish Clerk of Court, 49 percent of the registered voters in the parish showed at the polls Saturday.
