The Architecture & Art of Bayou Teche,
Owen Southwell and Tabasco’s Avery Island
Thursday at 5 p.m. — Plantation dinner on the banks of Bayou Teche — Opening night cocktail buffet dinner with music at Bayside Plantation on Bayou Teche.
Friday at 8 a.m. — Day in New Iberia — Lectures at The Sliman followed by a tour at the Bayou Teche Museum and brown-bag lunch at the Iberia Parish Courthouse courtesy of the Iberia Parish Convention & Visitors Bureau. At 1 p.m. Tour private Owen Southwell buildings followed by a tour with cocktails and heavy hors d’oeuvres with music on the banks of the Bayou Teche at Shadows-on-the-Teche.

Saturday at 9 a.m. — Day on Avery Island — “Bayou Teche and Avery Island: Intertwined Histories,” will be presented by McIlhenny Co. historian Shane K. Bernard PhD. followed by a lecture called, “Photographer to Architects: Robert W. Tebbs” by author and art historian Richard Anthony Lewis PhD. A tour of Jungle Gardens will be directed by botanist Garrie Landry prior to lunch at Sundown, home of Virginia and Madison Moseley on Avery Island. The afternoon tour will include private McIlhenny and Avery family homes.
Sunday at 9 a.m. — Sugar Plantation — To conclude the trip to the Teche Area, the Foray visitors will visit Enterprise Plantation & Sugar Mill, Patoutville followed by lunch at the Hippolyte Patout Jr. House at Enterprise Plantation.
