- Next up for IPC: RVera’s budget
Iberia Parish Council’s Executive Committee members once again will discuss and consider an ordinance amending the parish’s Home Rule Charter that would reduce the size of the council from 14 to nine when they meet Wednesday.
The council also is scheduled to talk about additional amendments to the charter that would raise the pay for council members to $12,200 annual and the council chairperson to $14,000 annually. Another change will change the parish president’s pay to $120,000 annually.

The council discussed putting all three amendments on a future election ballot at an October meeting. However, there was so much debate about the amendments that several councilmen made substitute motions amending the proposals. After five were used and voted down by the council, no further action was taken.
The committee also will discuss and consider a resolution directing that all necessary actions be taken to amend the boundaries of Economic Development District No. 1.
The parish’s Finance Committee will consider a resolution amending the 2017 Public Buildings Maintenance Fund Budget in $20,000 to pay for a DEQ impact study that was completed on the property located at 4108 Old Spanish Trail. The building, which is the site of the former Dutch Gosnell Manufacturing and Supply Inc., will be used as a public works building.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Iberia Parish Courthouse.
