Richard said a “very productive” meeting took place Wednesday with all of the stakeholders for the renovation project. At the meeting, local architect Gerald Gesser shared results of the geotechnical investigation.

Present at the meeting were state Rep. Terry Landry’s, D-Lafayette, Iberia Parish Council members and members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The project will be funded through capital outlay.
“I think we have a clear project to move the project forward and have it completed by the fourth quarter of this year,” Richard said.
• Richard’s administration met with Waterworks District No. 3 in Coteau earlier this week to address ongoing communication problems with the district. Several new policies were implemented during those talks to address how communication will occur moving forward.
A Facebook page is being created for the district which Richard said will be up and running soon. The district will also start printing on all of its customers’ invoices their Facebook address and Iberia Parish Government’s address so customers can monitor communication updates.
The district’s board of directors is also working on getting proposals for an emergency communication system, Richard said.
• Several bridge projects in Iberia Parish are closer to completion. The replacement of the Railroad Road bridge over Poufette Canal is expected to be completed this month, and Richard said the replacement of the Bull Island Bridge over Norris Branch Canal is expected to be completed in March.

• Work at the Iberia Parish Courthouse is also continuing. Richard said renovations to the second floor courtrooms have met delays due to scheduling, but work is expected to be completed in the next 45 days.
The exterior waterproofing and painting of the courthouse is also wrapping up, and should be completed within the next 30 days and includes changing out windows.
• A contract has been signed with Kerne Construction and Tilden Bonin for phase one of renovations to the New Iberia Veterans Memorial Building in City Park. The project includes interior and exterior painting, staining and re-sealing as well as exterior pressure cleaning and roof repairs.
• A contract was signed this week with Brushmasters for roadside and channel spraying programs. There were no increases to the contract, Richard said.
