St. Martinville council to meet

ST. MARTINVILLE — St. Martinville City Council members will vote to approve several resolutions regarding drainage in the city at Monday’s council meeting.
St. Martinville Mayor Thomas Nelson plans to introduce three resolutions related to drainage at the meeting. The first will request financial assistance from St. Martin Parish Government for a drainage study of Durand subdivision and the Magnolia Park area.

The second will request financial assistance from parish government for a drainage study of Terrace Road, Larue Simeon Valerie Road and the Academy Drive area. The last resolution also requests financial assistance from the parish for a study of South Main Street and the Ledoux Street area.
In other business, St. Martinville Police Chief Ricky Martin will request the council hire two part-time dispatchers for the police department. Filmmaker Jillian Hall will present a proposal to the council for an animated film of the Evangeline story.
The council also will discuss a request for proposals for the city’s garbage contract that expires June 30.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday.
