Executive session set for IPC

The Iberia Parish Council will go into executive session for two agenda items at Wednesday’s regular meeting.
The first is for litigation titled Stephen Minvielle vs. Iberia Parish Government in the 16th Judicial District Court. The council will discuss the item and also potentially hire special counsel for the lawsuit.

The other item is related to a demand letter for the Paul Segura Parkway/Estis Road Sewer Project. The council also will consider hiring special counsel for the item.
After the session, the council will vote on whether to take action regarding the items.
The council will vote on a resolution thanking Iberia Parish Assessor Rickey Huval for updating the parish’s information and data by performing the GIS Aerial Flyover of Iberia Parish.
Another resolution will congratulate former Iberia Parish Council member Donald Segura for being named King Sucrose 2018 by the Louisiana Sugar Cane Association.
In the parish’s finance committee after the regular meeting, the committee will vote on a resolution to authorizing travel expenses for Iberia Parish Council members to attend the Gulf States Counties and Parishes Caucus Annual Meeting.
The meeting is scheduled to be held next month in Point Clear, Alabama, and is estimated to cost $1,055 per attendee.

In the council’s executive committee neeting, the committee will vote to authorize the submission of various amendments to the Iberia Parish Home Rule Charter, all as proposed by the Iberia Parish Home Rule Charter Ad Hoc Committee.
The date of the election is set for May 4, and the agenda item is being proposed by Councilman Paul Landry, who represents District 7.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Iberia Parish Courthouse.
