Tremendous return on MPO effort

The Iberia Parish Council will receive a presentation for the proposed 2019 consolidated budget at Wednesday’s regular meeting. 

The council also will go into executive session to discuss a demand letter related to the Paul Segura Parkway/Estis Road Sewer Project and to discuss the hiring of a special counsel.

Later, the council will vote to hire a special counsel outside of executive session. 

In other business, the council will vote to amend Chapter 2 of the Iberia Parish Compiled

Ordinances requiring all parish boards and commissions to establish their regular meeting times after 6 p.m. in order to allow the public the opportunity to attend public meetings.

In the Iberia Parish’s Finance Committee, the council will discuss a resolution authorizing travel expenses for members of the council to attend the 2019 Police Jury Association of Louisiana Annual Conference to be held in Lake Charles from Feb. 13-15, 2019, at a total approximate cost of $1,036 per attendee.

The council’s Executive Committee also will discuss ordinance proposing various amendments to the Iberia Parish Home Rule Charter, all as proposed by the Iberia Parish Home Rule Charter Ad Hoc Committee, and subject to voter ratification in an election to be held May 4, 2019.

The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Iberia Parish Courthouse.
