Drainage issues on IPC agenda Wednesday

The Iberia Parish Council will vote on a resolution entering into an agreement for a Jeanerette Rural Health Clinic at Wednesday’s meeting.

The resolution will allow for an intergovernmental agreement with the Iberia Parish Hospital Service District No. 1 for the use of a building formerly the home of the Jeanerette Health Unit to become the Jeanerette Rural Health Clinic for a period of three years.

The agreement will start Nov. 1 and end Oct. 31, 2021.

The council also will vote on a resolution appointing Maj. Carl Michael Barnett with the New Iberia Police Department to the Iberia Parish Communications District. Barnett will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Barton Romero, whose term expires May 28, 2021.

In other business, the council will vote on an ordinance relating to stormwater pollution prevention. The ordinance will regulate stormwater runoff discharges from land development and other construction activities, and will also provide for the compliance and enforcement of violations.

In the parish’s finance committee, the council will discuss a resolution approving the engagement agreement with Kolder, Slaven and Co. LLC to conduct agreed-upon procedures in accordance with a resolution authorizing the financial audit contract at an estimated cost below $9,000.

The meeting is scheduled to be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Iberia Parish Council.
