Lease of state park on council agenda

ST. MARTINVILLE — The St. Martinville City Council will vote to lease a state park at tonight’s regular meeting. 

The council will vote to authorize Mayor Melinda Mitchell to sign an amendment to lease with the state of Louisiana for Magnolia Park. The council also will vote to hire a part-time worker for the town’s Parks and Recreation Department. 

A resolution for online banking authorizing Shedrick Berard to access and perform transactions through internet banking services will be voted on as well.

The council also will vote to approve a shrimp boil on March 15, an Easter Egg Hunt and Bunny Run in Magnolia Park March 30 and a car show in Magnolia Park on Aug. 24.

Clara Jean Batiste also will place a request to the council for the use of Festival Grounds to hold a Mardi Gras Festival on March 3.

Councilman Mike Fuselier will discuss St. Martinville’s pitbull ordinance, and Mitchell will provide an update on fuel expenses to town government.

The meeting takes place 6 p.m. tonight at St. Martinville City Hall.
