Regular season for hoops coming to an end

he end of the high school basketball regular season arrives soon for Teche Area boys’ and girls’ teams making the final push for the playoffs.

There are two weeks left in the boys’ regular season and this is the final week for the girls before the LHSAA releases playoff brackets for all classes and divisions.

Boys

New Iberia Senior High (15-11) has six games left to play — three District 3-5A contests and three non-district games.

The final two weeks start with two road games Tuesday at Sulphur and Friday at Comeaux before playing Karr at home Saturday. Then the Jackets close the regular season with two home games against Sam Houston on Feb. 12; Avoyelles Public Charter on Feb. 13 and the regular season finale on the road at LaGrange on Feb. 19.

In Class 4A, Westgate (16-9) has four district games left on the schedule. The Tigers play host to Carencro Tuesday, go on the road to face Teurlings Catholic Friday, then play host to Rayne on Feb. 12 and close the regular season at Northside on Feb. 15.

St. Martinville Senior High (10-19) also has four games left in the regular season. SMSH is on the road this week at Cecilia Tuesday and at Opelousas Friday before closing with home games against Beau Chene on Feb. 12 and Breaux Bridge on Feb. 19.

In Class 3A, Erath (3-19) has four District 8-3A contests left. The Bobcats are at home th.is week against Patterson Tuesday and David Thibodaux Friday before going to Abbeville on Feb. 12 and finishing at home against Kaplan Feb. 19

In Class 2A, Catholic High (16-12) has four games left to play. The Panthers play at Loreauville today, at home against Delcambre Thursday, then at Ascension Episcopal Feb. 11 and at Franklin Feb. 14.

Jeanerette (13-12) has three games remaining. The Tigers are on the road at West St. Mary today, play host to Franklin Thursday, then finish the regular season on the road at Delcambre on Feb. 11.

Delcambre (10-14) has four contests remaining. The Panthers play host to Vermilion Catholic in a non-district game today, travel to Catholic High Thursday, then play host to Jeanerette on Feb. 11 and Loreauville on Feb. 14.

Loreauville (0-17) has four games left to try to pick up its first win of the season. LHS plays host to Catholic High today and Ascension Episcopal Thursday before going on the road to West St. Mary on Feb. 11 and Delcambre on Feb. 14.

Franklin (16-9) holds a two-game lead over WSM in the race for the District 7-2A title and has three games left to play. The Hornets are at Ascension Episcopal today and at Jeanerette Friday, then have a district bye Monday before closing the regular season at home against CHS on Feb. 14.

West St. Mary (12-8) also has three games left to play. The Wolfpack is home against Jeanerette today, has a district bye Thursday, plays host to Loreauville Feb. 11 and closes the season at Ascension Episcopal on Feb. 14.

In Class A, Highland Baptist (7-14) has four games remaining. The Bears play host to Hanson Tuesday and Centerville Friday before going on the road to Vermilion Catholic Feb. 12 to close out District 7-A play. HBCS closes the regular season Feb. 15 at home against Hackberry.

Hanson (10-7) has three games left to play. The Tigers travel to Highland Tuesday, then play host to Central Catholic Friday before closing the season at Centerville Feb. 15.

Centerville (14-8) has four games left in the season. The Bulldogs play host to Lafayette Christian Tuesday and travel to Highland Friday before going on the road to Central Catholic Feb. 12 and finishing up against Hanson on Feb. 15

Finally in Class B, ESA (15-12) has two District 6-B games left and two non-district games left.

The Falcons finish up district play Tuesday at Hathaway and then Friday at home against Midland before going on the road twice next week at North Vermilion on Feb. 14 and at St. John Feb. 15.

Girls

The regular season wraps up this week for Teche Area girls’ teams with several important games left to play.

In Class 5A, NISH (16-6) has two games remaining, at Sulphur Tuesday and at Comeaux Friday.

In Class 4A, Westgate (9-16) is home Tuesday against Carencro and on the road Friday at Teurlings.

St. Martinville (7-18) finishes up on the road at Cecilia Tuesday and at Opelousas Friday.

In Class 3A, Erath (5-21) closes at home against Patterson Tuesday and David Thibodaux Friday.

In Class 2A, Catholic High (15-9) is at Loreauville today and plays host to Delcambre Friday.

Delcambre (16-9) plays host to Vermilion Catholic today and Sacred Heart-Grand Coteau Tuesday before going to Catholic High Thursday.

Jeanerette (7-13) is at West St. Mary today and plays host to Franklin Thursday.

Loreauville (1-22) plays host to CHS today and home against Ascension Episcopal Thursday.

Franklin (13-14) is at AES today and at Jeanerette Thursday.

West St. Mary (4-10) is home against Jeanerette today and at home Thursday against ASH-Grand Coteau.

In Class A, Highland Baptist (11-7) has one game left, at home against Hanson Tuesday.

Hanson (13-10) goes to Highland Tuesday, then closes at home against Central Catholic Friday.
