Calling authors & publishers to show their stuff at public event

Poster contest new for 2018 festival

The time has come for the 4th annual Books Along the Teche Literary Festival and organizers are calling all authors and publishers to participate in the Authors Book Fair, Saturday, April 6 in downtown New Iberia. The Authors Fair is a book-selling event held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. via tables on Main Street. Authors are encouraged to register as soon as possible in order to reserve space, however, entries will be accepted up to the event date if space permits.

The application is vailable online at the festival website, at the Books Along the Teche store in New Iberia or by request at TecheLife.editor@daily-iberian.com. Mail or drop off completed applications at the bookstore. Fees for an author space is $20 and publishers may represent its products and authors for $40, Payment is due at the time of registration. Authors can submit jpeg files of book covers to be included in publicity for the literary festival. For more information contact any committee member or call 322-1664.

The Books Along the Teche Literary Festival will be held in New Iberia starting Friday, April 5, through Sunday, April 7. The Authors Fair will be held Saturday, April 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., along Main Street. This year a special children’s books event will be featured in Church Alley. If children authors are interested in showcasing or performing at the children’s event, call Paul Schexnayder at 364-2645.

The Books Along the Teche Literary Festival is an event of the Iberia Preservation Alliance, a coalition of the Iberia Cultural Resources Association, Bayou Teche Museum and Shadows-on-the-Teche. It was formed in partnership with the New Iberia Main Street Program to coordinate and support mutual interests in preservation and history.

The Main Street Program is a nationally accredited program established by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. In 2005, the New Iberia Main Street Program won the “Great American Main Street Award” for its successful downtown revitalization efforts. In 2017, the National Park Service listed the city’s “Downtown New Iberia Commercial Historic District” on the National Register of Historic Places. Together these groups will present the fourth annual Books Along the Teche Literary Festival for visitors from around the nation and local residents to enjoy Southern culture.
