LAFAYETTE — New Iberia Senior High School’s Adam Curet has been selected to receive one of six 2019 Meritus Credit Union Scholarships awarded to graduating seniors.
Curet has a 4.0 GPA and 33 ACT score. He plans to major in Chemical Engineering at LSU and aspires to become a member of the Golden Band from Tiger Land.
One of Curet’s teachers said in her reference letter for the scholarship that “he takes the most rigorous and demanding courses, has a very analytical mind and is unafraid to ask questions.”
Curet is a four-year member of the National Beta Club, a three-year member of the National Honor Society, has remained on the principal’s list for his four years of high school and has earned numerous academic awards.
He has a passion and appreciation for his hometown of New Iberia, according to a prepared statement from Meritus Credit Union, formerly Lafayette Schools Credit Union. Being a good citizen for Adam means being involved with his community, the statement said.
Curet is a member of the NISH marching and concert band, chorus All-State member, Jacket Assembly (Student Government) serving as Senior Class Secretary and St. Peter’s Catholic Church confirmation team member.
Curet is the son of Joni and Adolph Curet and is the youngest of five children. He will graduate from NISH in May.
Meritus Credit Union is a full-service financial institution with more than $200 million in assets and 22,000 members. Anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Acadia, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Martin and Vermilion parishes is eligible for membership.
