ST. MARTINVILLE — The St. Martinville City Council approved upgrades to a local baseball field requested by the St. Martin Parish Baseball League, according to St. Martinville Mayor Pro-Tem Mike Fuselier.

“They were asking for cement for dugouts, and they were asking us to repair some fencing and things like that,” Fuslier said. “We definitely wanted to help them out. They do so much for this community and offer so much. We’re going to go ahead and honor their requests and do those things they’re asking us.”

The council also approved a separate request for maintenance and lighting for a 1.1-mile walking track in Magnolia Park.

St. Martinville Interim Police Chief Joseph Nedie requested for approval the change of employment status from part-time to full-time for Officer Alonza Jordan. Nedie also requested approval for the hiring of an additional full-time officer and for the hiring of a part-time communications officer.

All of Nedie’s requests were approved by council members.
