A familiar face will be at the helm of leadership at Catholic High School in the 2018-2019 school year.

Stella Arabie-Delcambre, who now serves the school as assistant principal, will step into her new role as principal this fall. Delcambre replaces CHS Principal Ray Simon, who will be leaving the position in May.

The announcement was made Friday morning after a privately held meeting of faculty and staff. Then the news was shared at an assembly of the student body.

The Rev. William Blanda, chancellor of Catholic High School, said in a prepared statement,”We remain grateful to Mr. Ray Simon for his years of service as a principal and Catholic educator. I know that he and Dr. Arabie will be working diligently during the remainder of this academic year to assure a smooth transition in the administration of the school.”

Arabie-Delcambre is a 1995 alumna of CHS. She will be the second-ever graduate to serve as principal. Simon was the first.

She also will the be the first female principal of the school and first principal who is also a parent of current students.

“As a person who has been a part of Catholic High as a graduate, teacher, coach and parent, I am blessed to have this opportunity to serve the Catholic High faith community. Together with the strength of this Catholic High faculty, staff, students and alumni, I’m excited to begin this journey as principal into its next 100 years,” Arabie-Delcambre said.

Catholic High School, founded in 1918, is celebrating its centennial year.
