In honor of March’s Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day on March 8, we’re celebrating the female farmers, entrepreneurs and chefs we’ve had the pleasure of meeting and learning from since launching one year ago.
We’re also taking a look at the current state of the agriculture industry, specifically at how female farmers fit into the picture — as well as what the future holds. We spoke with the founder of The Female Farmer Project, a female-led organization and documentary project that is advocating for greater recognition of the work female farmers do — and amplifying the voices of the female leaders in the agriculture industry. We also sat down with one woman to learn more about her experience running the largest CSA in her home state and discuss the challenges she faces and changes she wishes to see.
