Drainage issues on IPC agenda Wednesday

The Iberia Parish Council is scheduled to vote Wednesday evening on a resolution authorizing an agreement between the state Department of Transportation and Development, the Acadiana Planning Commission and the parish for the construction of a roundabout connecting Jefferson Island Road and the proposed Acadiana Regional Airport Access Road near the parish’s proposed Progress Point Industrial Park.

The agreement is another step towards improving access to the airport for travellers as well as improving commercial and industrial access for freight and cargo carriers.

The council is also slated to discuss a demand letter the parish has received related to the Estis Road/Paul Segura Parkway Sewer Project in the Paul Segura Industrial Park.

The item, listed under special business, centers on a dispute with the contractor who installed the sewage infrastructure for the development. The parish has yet to accept the work, citing issues with some of the borings and grading in the development.

The demand letter has been on the council’s agenda for the last several months, but has been tabled previously.

The council will also take action on an ordinance to govern stormwater runoff from construction and development sites in the parish.

In other business, the council is scheduled to:

Vote on an ordinance to abolish Iberia Parish Water Works District No. 4.

Adopt resolutions to make end-of-year changes to various budgetary funds in preparation for the final adoption of the 2019 budget on Nov. 28.

Vote on the appointment of Cecil Hymel to the Iberia Economic Development Authority to replace Benny Menard, who resigned.

The Iberia Parish Council meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Parish Council Meeting Room on the fourth floor of the Iberia Parish Courthouse, 300 Iberia St.
