ST. MARTINVILLE — The St. Martinville City Council has postponed its meeting scheduled for tonight as it prepares to adopt its budget for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.

The council normally meets on the first and third Monday of each month. At the June 3 meeting, however, council members voted to push the June 17 scheduled meeting to June 24 to allow new Chief Administrative Officer Avis Gutekunst additional time with the city’s auditor, who is preparing the new budget.

Gutekunst began work on June 10.

The council will meet at 4:30 p.m. on June 24 to hold its budget hearing, then hold its rescheduled regular meeting at 6 p.m., immediately after the budget hearing.

The council has also cancelled its July 1 meeting so as not to interfere with the July 4 holiday.

The St. Martinville City Council meets in the city council meeting room of city hall, 120 New Market St. in St. Martinville.
