Jeanerette man charged with murder in Broussard shooting; victim identified as Iberia Parish man

An arrest was made in connection with the fatal shooting of an Iberia Parish man Wednesday at a gas station in Broussard.
Dazjhalun Charles, 24, of Jeanerette, was arrested on Thursday and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correction Center on one count of second-degree murder, according to the Broussard Police Department on Friday.

The charge stems from a shooting that was reported at around 7 p.m. on Wednesday at an Exxon gas station located at 1505 Bonin Rd. in Broussard. Responding police officers were directed to a vehicle in the parking lot where a male victim was found dead with a gunshot wound, police said.
In a news release on Thursday, Broussard police said the victim is 19-year-old Terrell Marshaun Fontenette Jr. of Iberia Parish.
Police continue to follow up leads to identify suspects involved with the homicide. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Broussard police at 337-837-6259.
Investigators are asking for the public’s help in locating the pictured vehicle. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the vehicle or its occupants is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency, 911 or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
