The New Iberia Garden Club has chosen the gardens of Donald Darcey at 607 Daspit Road as the Garden of the Month.
Donald’s love for flowers and foliage plants is evident in his yard which includes Petunias, Pansies, Marigolds, Dianthus, Crotons, and potted Bromeliads.
The New Iberia Garden Club is a member of the Louisiana Garden Club Federation, District III, Deep South Garden Clubs, Inc.
Horticultural Hints
Our gardens are “ somewhat” resting this month. We’ve had cooler temps, rainfall, and the soil is keeping fall blooms at its best.
Knowing our temps will get colder, protect your flowerbeds by mulching — it’s not too late.
Protect your tender foliage from extreme drop in temperature or take them in if possible.
Veggies are beginning to produce and fruit from Lemon trees, Satsumas, Grapefruit, Oranges are at their peek. Pick and enjoy Mother Natures gifts!
