Two arrested on murder charges stemming from fatal home invasion

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of the two other individuals involved in the home invasion on Old Jeanerette Road in Iberia Parish on Dec 6.
Datelle Lewis, 25, of New Iberia was arrested on Dec. 9 on an outstanding warrant and a charge of second degree murder. Her bond has been set at $500,000. Later arrested was 31-year-old Ridge Trahan of St. Martinville who was booked on Dec. 20 on a second degree murder charge. No bond has been set at this time for Trahan. Both were booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.

On Dec. 9, the Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office said Jeremy Butler, 35, of Jeanerette was shot and killed on Dec. 6 at the scene of the home invasion near the area of 9000 Old Jeanerette Road.
The call started on Dec. 6 at approximately 10:30 p.m., when deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a home invasion. Upon arrival deputies, located a deceased male inside the home.
Through investigation, deputies learned the deceased male entered the home with two other men and fired his gun at the homeowners. In response, the homeowner shot the intruder.
