CVA grant tops agenda for Tuesday meeting

The New Iberia City Council will vote to approve the adoption of an ordinance executing an agreement for a CVA pumpout grant.

The agreement is in coordination with the state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, and was announced by city government last month.
The council will also make several budget decisions at the meeting. The council will vote to move $15,000 to the building repair and maintenance fund for building maintenance. The council also will make a budget adjustment to reflect an increase in a state-required monthly payment for veterans.
There also will be a vote to amend the budget to move $19,500 to reflect the K-9 Narcotics Unit funds from the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement. There will also be $3,054 amended to reflect the funds received due to the sale of forfeited funds.
An additional $10,000 will be voted on by the council to be moved to the New Iberia City Marshal’s Office to maintain the department.
The council will vote on a resolution accepted the Louisiana Division of Historic Preservation 2018-19 grant award for Historic Preservation Training.
The preservation has awarded $36,724 to implement its proposed historic preservation training project.

Councilwoman Sherry Guidry also is set to bring up a discussion on the illegal dumping of tires and waste items.
The meeting takes place 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at New Iberia City Hall.
